Clinical Supervision

Choosing a clinical supervisor is an important step in your development as a professional counselor. The right fit can shape not only your skills, but also your confidence and professional identity. I have been a Texas Board-approved supervisor since 2005. I have had the privilege of supervising many Associates and have learned a great deal in supervision from them. In addition, I've had a private practice since 2003, and have been a university professor in counseling for 18 years.

My approach to supervision could be best described as collaborative, supportive and grounded in open dialogue. We will sped time exploring both your clients' experiences and you own reactions. Along the way, building your practical skills, strengthening clinical judgement, and developing your confidence as a professional counselor. I aim to create opportunities for you to feel comfortable asking questions, reflecting honestly, and growing professionally. The underpinnings of my supervision follow the central themes present in Person-Centered, Existentialism, Narrative therapy, as well as mindfulness-based approaches. However, my primary focus is in the supervisory relationship and tailoring those experiences to your needs.

As you consider your options, I encourage you to meet with potential supervisors to ensure a good fit. You should feel at ease while feeling comfortable with their clinical and supervisory skills, Supervision. often has a profound impact on your development as a professional counselor. Finding the right match is worth the search.

Wishing you the very best as you begin this meaningful and rewarding career.

Scott
